Make a Splash at our 2013 Summer Programs!

The Carleton Place Canoe Club is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of history.  Managed by volunteers and professional staff, we offer a variety of paddling programs which are designed to promote a positive self-image, an appreciation for the sport and the spirit of cooperation and fair play for participant’s ages 8 years old and up.  Our programs provide a group environment where beginner and experienced paddlers can develop skills in all boats, singles, doubles, fours, as well as war canoe and dragon boat.  Competitive programs provide the opportunity for all ages to compete in regattas throughout the region, right up to a Provincial and National level.

Coaches, staff and volunteers work hard to ensure the safety of all participants on the water.  As well as being competent paddlers, all coaches at the club are certified through our National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), confident swimmers and Boat Operator Accredited training.  Safety boats are always within sight and ready to respond.  To provide a safe and secure environment for our weekly summer camp programs the ratio of staff to kids is 1:10.  For all other kids programs, the ratio of coaches to kids is 1:12.

The club has recently undergone a revision of our programs to better align with the Canadian Sport for Life’s (CS4L) Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.  The LTAD model is a framework that provides paddlers at all stages of development the opportunity to be the best they can be.  With that in mind we have created the CPCC Paddler Pathway to clearly outline 3 different participant streams, Community, Competitive and High Performance, as well as the progression from one stream to the next.
